A primary concern was, maintaining the authenticity of the architectural style and method of construction that was prevalent when this house was built. Its high columns, wide arches, the inner courtyard, the madras terrace roof, all come together to give it a stature that truly befits a heritage structure.

But the structure is only the outer shell. What gives Gratitude its true essence is the quiet joy and peace that gives this home a healing atmosphere. It is rare to find a place of quietude inviting one to contemplation, an inner journey without compromising on comfort. It is spotlessly clean and decorated with impeccable taste in the style of the period. The furniture is mainly antiques salvaged from homes of that period and restored to much of its original beauty.
We have a love for natural, authentic textiles which shows in the Anglo French furnishings.
The residents and staff are friendly & helpful without being intrusive.

All rooms are air conditioned and have attached baths. The house is entirely a non-smoking zone. There are no televisions in the rooms. It is an ideal place for writers, artists and other creative people who are seeking a place conducive to their work. However, Pondicherry is a lively town and offers a wide variety of cafes, restaurants and things to do for those who want to enjoy the Mediterranean enthusiasm of this seaside resort. All this is within walking distance of Gratitude.
There are facilities for in-house massage & you can join our Yoga sessions (extra charge).
We do have basic free Internet wi-fi in common areas and you can use your laptops with headphones. Being a home away from home, long term stays are possible at reduced rates. Although we love children, this house is not for them as we believe they need to have the freedom to play without restraint.
