House Guidelines

Gratitude is not a typical hotel, it is a home and peaceful retreat with a serene ambience that we strive to maintain. As such there are a few guidelines we expect guests to abide by:
- Please keep cellphones on silent or low volume and generally respect the quietude of the house.
- There are no televisions in any of the rooms. Please use your laptops/tablets with headphones or at a low volume.
- Smoking/Vaping is not permitted in any of the rooms or the courtyard. Designated smoking areas are on the terrace or the bench outside the main house door.
- Please refrain from taking food and drinks inside the rooms, you are welcome to use the dining table or any the common areas. Cutlery/Crockery can be provided from the kitchen, just ask.
- There is no curfew, but we do close the main door at night for security. Our Night Watchman will wait for your arrival, if the door is closed please knock or the ring the bell.
- Outdoor footwear should be left on the shoe racks near the door, clean indoor footwear will be provided for you.
- If you are staying for an extended period (more than 3 nights) we request you unpack fully so we can store your empty luggage safely.
-We love children and their free spirit, so we believe it would be unfair on them to ask them to stay quiet. Hence we do not encourage guests with children (below 12) who can/may/will be noisy.

Facilities & general information

- Breakfast is served between 8.30am-10.00am. We do not serve lunch or dinner. There are many wonderful restaurants within 5 minutes’ walk from the house and we suggest you try them out for your other meals.
-All rooms are air-conditioned and have en-suite bathrooms.
- All bathrooms have running hot and cold water, however due to the age of the building Rooms #7 and #8 have hot water in the faucets only, brass buckets and stools are provided for traditional Indian bucket baths
- The kitchen is not for common use. There is complimentary tea/coffee and a common guest refrigerator available in the dining hall at all hours.
- We provide basic concierge services including booking transportation, making reservations and hiring scooters on your behalf if required. Recommendations for restaurants and sites can be found at the Front Desk.
-There is no room service but if you’d like something specific please feel free to ask, we will try our best.
-Normal speed wifi is provided free. Higher speed wifi is available at a nominal charge.
-We provide clean, filtered drinking water in the earthen pitchers in the rooms in order to minimise use of plastic bottles.
-Power cuts are rare in this area and we have back-up which will power fans and lights but not air-conditioning.
-We have a small library from which you may borrow books or board-games.
-In-house laundry is available for small loads at nominal charge. Large loads can be outsourced for a higher charge.
-Bed linen will be changed once in 5 days and towels once in 3 days unless there is a specific request. This is to conserve water and in keeping with our eco- conservation principals.
- There is a massage room and Yoga space on the terrace. Please inquire with the Front Desk for booking a professional massage or borrowing Yoga mats.
